"You're just scared I'll embarrass you," she teased giving him a silly grin. "But fiiiine, knowing our luck your sister will walk in on us again. You know she pulled me aside after you left that night. She's very protective of you, I wonder where she gets it... the two of you have so much in common."
She glanced at him from the corner of her eyes and she gave him another grin, "should I expect dinner as well?"
Yeah, she may be laying this on thick, but she wanted to let him know she was seriously interested in this whole... thing. But that puppy dog look was god damn adorable. Handsome, funny, cunning, ugh... he honestly just kept ticking things off her list of desired aspects in a man one by one.
Well she was perceptive, he was worried she would embarrass him, but only because he really did not like his personal life, or the lack of one prior to this, to interfere with his business. After all, he was here to do a job and if he kept getting distracted by beautiful young ladies, he couldn’t do his job. Now on his time off, he could perhaps learn to… relax a little bit, even if he felt like he was using the young lady who had no idea what sort of man he really was underneath the flesh, in his blood and bones, the beast within.
“I can… make sure there’s some dinner.” He nodded. Anything to make sure this class would run smoothly. He was a very proud man and a little bit of food at a meeting between friends (man this sure sounded like a date) was no price to pay for his image. He wanted to be liked, he wanted to be loved so badly by those around him, he was willing to do this one thing in order to keep that image of good professor alive. Not that he really minded having dinner with her… he was just afraid and worried he was using her given everything. Everyone had secrets but his in particular was fairly substantial.
“Now behave.” He tapped her nose and then got back into professor position a little bit aways from her.

She snickered, was he really this clueless? Whatever, it was working out in her favour anyway. She got a date with the handsome professor, maybe a bit more snogging to go with it. She should procure a good bottle of mead too.... yes, that would go over really well. She gave him a brilliant smile and finally pulled her eyes from him.
"Fine, but only because you promised me a date."
Okay, now she would really behave.
Who was to know that out of this volunteered position, she would find her happiness?

Rose had a plan and given it was the eve before the full moon, it was even more perfect that he was currently in the duelling club room, with Tonks, alone. Part of her hoped she could catch them in the act again, but knowing her brother, he's probably shut that down fast. Never the less, she had a delivery to make. She would be quick, and wouldn't call too much attention to it. Too much.
She rounded the corner and entered the room through the partially open door, to see the two of them expectantly waiting on the stage. No one else was here yet? How strange. Normally people in this place jumped at the change of learning a new spell. She would've assumed Hermione Granger would have been in here right at start time. Rose shrugged regardless, looking up to wave at the two in greeting.
"Yo!"
~~~
Tonks was really beginning to wonder what was up. Kids normally jumped at the change to learn a neat spell, yet here they were, facing an empty room. Well, that wasn't for long, because as if called, Remus' sister sauntered into the room, seemingly with purpose, but something in her eyes told Tonks it was something important. Tonks' made sure to pay attention.
"Hey kiddo," Tonks greeted with a grin. "What are you doing here? I already know you can do this spell, given you showed me just the other day."
Rose smiled at Tonks, giving her a wink. "No reason, really. I just needed to give something to Remus before I headed up to bed for the night."
Hermione trotted up the last set of stairs, a bit disheveled. She had just barely missed herself in the last corridor because she had not gotten her timing just right. Using a time turner was tricky, and she had not had it long enough to have mastered it quite yet. Luckily, she had dove into a broom closet just in time before hurrying on to her destination, hoping she would not be late. Walking into the dueling club room, she caught the end of what the Ravenclaw girl was saying. What was her name again? She had been on the train during the dementor’s search… Hermione couldn’t remember the girl’s name, but she gave her a small smile. She then looked toward Prof. Lupin and the auror standing nearby. Hermione couldn’t remember her name either, she just knew that it was odd. They had never formally met.
“Hello, Professor.” she said politely to Lupin. She was feeling a bit awkward, as the others were clearly familiar with each other. She hoped she wasn’t interrupting something, but this was definitely where the class was supposed to be and the professor was here.
Hermione was excited about being taught the Patronous charm. She knew that it was advanced magic but did not doubt that she could master it with time. Perhaps she would even be able to cast the full charm today! After all, she had read up on it before coming so she felt fully prepared to try it. She definitely hoped Ron Weasley and Harry Potter would be able to make it so they could learn too.
Remus was about to say something to Nymphadora when Rose strolled on in like usual, probably for a delivery. He much rather that she not do those things in public. If people realized what he was because she kept bringing him what looked like wolfsbane, it would crush him. He needed to have a serious talk with her about that later. Of course, it wasn’t long after Rose entered that Hermione Granger walked in as well. Remus smiled at her and then turned back to Rose.
“You can just leave whatever it is in my office.” He made sure to phrase it as thought it was a regular delivery from her so it didn’t seem as suspicious as it normally was. “Now, Hermione, this is Rose Hunter, and this is Nymphadora Tonks who prefers to be called Tonks, the ministry official here in charge of protecting the interior of the school from Sirius Black.” He gestured to each girl as he introduced each of them. He did send a small smile to Tonks when he said her name, making sure to let Hermione know that she did prefer her last name instead of her first – except apparently when it came to him.
“Tonks will be demonstrating while I work on teaching the theory and giving advice on how to cast it itself.” That way he didn’t have to show off his own patronus, because he rather not have a roomful of students see that he had a wolf patronus. Even if apparently Tonks had the same one as him. Man, if people found out they had matching patronus, he would never hear the end of it, especially from Rose.
Do you feel my heart beating?
Too late! Rose cursed under her breath and Hermione came in. She may be late, but she could have been a few seconds later. Rose's gaze fell to Tonks, and she winked.
"I think I'll just see myself out and just leave my delivery in Professor Lupin's desk, looks like a letter and a chocolate bar; McGonagall gave it to me. Looks like something from his mother."
Rose's gaze then turned to Remus, a devious smirk plastered on her face (the McGonagall part was a lie, obviously), but when she spoke next her tone had changed, "'sides, I don't need to be showing off my Patronus anyhow. Tootles!"
She turned, waving to Hermione, before leaving the room.
It shouldn't have happened but you let it Now you're down on the ground screaming medic The only thing that comes is the post-traumatic stresses Shields, body armors and vests don't properly work That's why you're in a locker full of hurt The enemy within and all the fires from your friends The best medicine's to probably just let it win
These battle scars don't look like they're fading
Harry had started lessons with Professor Lupin already for the Patronus, every other Thursday, and he had one next Thursday too. Well, if nothing happened of course. However, he knew that no matter what, he needed as much practice as he possibly could, and he felt it would be especially interesting to be learning with Hermione and Ron, perhaps even others. He had heard something about the ministry official being there during the lesson, and Harry honestly didn’t mind the ministry at this point – they didn’t expel him for using magic outside of school when it came to his aunt. Fudge had seemed fairly understanding, though Harry did blame him for taking Dumbledore away last year, though that was mostly Lucius Malfoy’s doing.
Harry had made his way to the dueling club area, having not actually been a part of the club himself, at least not since last year with Lockhart and Snape when he learned Expelliarmus. Perhaps if he had time he could look into going to the meetings more often. With his track record, he likely would get some good out of it, learning how to duel better, defend himself from attacks around him. Though, he hoped that Sirius Black wouldn’t end up finding him – all he knew about Black was that he had been a big supporter of Voldemort – he had a feeling the convict would eventually come into contact with him and Harry knew he needed to defend himself.
Professor Lupin had already, in the past two months or so, shown himself to be better than both professors they had in their previous years and seemed to show understanding and concern for him, almost like a father figure, though Harry really hadn’t had one of those before unless you counted Ron’s father. Even still, while he considered the Weasleys family, he hadn’t spent too much time with everyone except Ron so far. He wanted to spend more time with them, and he hoped he would be able to do so soon.
It was starting to get closer to the time of the meeting when Harry decided he would make his way over there, and when he entered he saw Hermione was already there – typical Hermione of course. She was always on time for basically everything, though at times she seemed to just show up without him noticing her approach. Either way he walked over to Hermione and smiled at the professor, looking to the two other girls in the room, except the second one left. Oh well.
“Hello Professor! Is that the person from the ministry?” He looked towards Tonks and walked up, offering his hand. “I’m Harry Potter. I take it you already know Professor Lupin? He’s been amazing in class, he’s honestly one of the best professors I’ve had so far. How do you know him? Did you just meet him or…?” There goes Harry’s nosiness. But then again, he had noticed how Professor Lupin tended to look towards this lady during meals and avoid her somewhat often. He wasn’t sure why, or what was going on, but he hoped everything would turn out alright in the end.
One would probably expect Tonks to act like every other person who'd come into the Harry Potter's presence, but instead of the instant worshipping him everyone else seemed to do, she gave the kid a warm-hearted grin, much like one Sirius would have. It did cross her mind that this was her cousin's godson.
Maybe this job had it's challenging moments anyway. According to Dumbledore, he had a penchant for getting up to no good too. Tonks rose an eyebrow at Remus; almost snickering that Harry seemed just as interested in her's and said DADA Professor's relationship as Remus' own sister did.
She gave a bark of a laugh, "well, we have a mutual friend, so, sort of. Nymphadora Tonks, but please, call me Tonks."
Hermione smiled to Rose as the girl left. Rose. Yes. That was her name! Hermione was unlikely to forget now. Hermione also noted that Rose’s delivery didn’t look anything like a letter or chocolate bar but shrugged it off. Whatever the professor’s mother was sending him wasn’t any of Hermione’s business though Rose did often seem to be the deliverer. Did Prof. Lupin not have an owl of his own or use the owlery? Maybe the deliveries were coming from in the castle… but that didn’t make sense if the Professor’s mother was sending them… Unless that wasn’t the case. Odd.
Hermione was drawn out of her nosey thoughts by Harry’s arrival. “Hey, Harry.” she said before also turning to Tonks. “A pleasure to meet you.” she said in response to Lupin’s introduction. Hermione couldn’t help but to smile as Harry spoke of Lupin. They seem to have really hit it off, and both Harry and Hermione (and hopefully Ron) were learning loads from him.
Hearing Harry finish his sentence and ask if Lupin and Tonks knew each other, Hermione tried to discreetly elbow Harry in the side, though she might have done it a bit harder than she intended. It was none of their business how Lupin and Tonks spent their spare time, and it definitely was not the business of students to discover if the two adults spent their time together. Nevertheless, Hermione was curious too. She had seen the looks between them and couldn’t deny the atmosphere of the room when she had walked in.
“Ow…” Harry rubbed his side where Hermione had hit and frowned slightly realizing he probably had said something he shouldn’t have said. However, what was done was done, and he got the answer, at least partially, that he was looking for. The fact she didn’t react like a lot of people said a lot about her – and he liked it. He didn’t like being treated differently because of what he did while he was a baby, something he didn’t even remember. “Pleasure to meet you Tonks.” He smiled and glanced over to Professor Lupin who had stayed silent, watching the pair.
[Lupin POV]
Slightly taken aback by Harry’s sudden questioning of Nymphadora, he didn’t let himself show the shock. After the exchange was over and done with, internally thanking her for not saying too much that would get these kids even more onto his case than they already were about things they ought not to meddle in when it came to his life, he looked to the door as several nameless students also started to file in.
“I’m glad you were able to make it, Harry.” Lupin pats the young boy’s back and looks to the students, specifically Hermione who he felt would likely get the most out of this lesson, though Harry had a couple of lessons and thus ahead of her – he hoped it would discourage her and merely fuel her desire to get better, which is what he expected, but nothing seems to ever go as expected.
“We’ll wait a few more minutes to see if anyone else will be arriving and we’ll begin the lesson.” Remus announced this to the muttering group, who seemed to quiet at the sound of his voice. There was a bit of silence that followed, and Remus smiled chuckling softly to himself before approaching Harry and Hermione. “Don’t get too discouraged if you can’t produce one today. Very few witches and wizards can produce even wisps of a patronus when they’re just starting out.”
Well, a class of two was better than a class of none. Though she really hoped others would show. The spell was a very useful tool. She looked down at her watch, dinner was nearly over, so maybe...
She was half tempted to drag in Cedric or Root but decided against it. Maybe Rose would send her housemates since she had been here to see that no one had shown. Tonks sighed softly, her eyes settling on Harry. Sirius had told her briefly about the boy, he had brought a little joy in the darkness they had all been facing during those times, but even she knew, as young as she had been, that it was dangerous to be attempting to start a family in the middle of a war. And look where it ended up. Sirius a murderer - which still didn't sit right with her, something was wrong there, but she had no proof to back it up. Moody had agreed with her regardless and sent her here, to puzzle things together. The only reason she was sent here, is because Sirius was found muttering 'he's at Hogwarts', the night before he escaped. Had he been referring to Harry? Or someone else?
Something was just seriously amiss. Never the less, she had gladly agreed to oversee this class.
