Willow was among the first students on the Hogwarts Express every year. That was among the benefits of having hyper-motivated parents, He always had a good pick of compartments. He found one that was good enough and took a seat. He sighed. All last week nervous energy began building up, but it always disappated once he got on this train. The trip was...boring. Just boring. It wasn't like it was all the way grim. He'd had a halfway interesting conversation with a Ravenclaw boy last year, and the year before that a Gryffindor girl had glared at him until he began talking about those wizarding trading cards. Most Gryffindors, in his experience, were remarkably easy to please.
It wasn't as if he hadn't made any friends the past two years. He had, it's just that his friends were more on the acquintance side, and he didn't feel any need to bother them.
After a few minutes staring at the scenery and contemplating the nature and extent of his boredom, he decided to pull out a book. Reading would ease the boredom. Substantialy if he was lucky. He had to look at the bright side. Evantually he would be at the best place on earth, Hogwarts, and he would have another chance to prove himself. A task he felt well equipped for. In light of that, all this waiting wasn't too bad, was it?

It didn't help that she was running late. She sort of purposely did this to herself to keep her mind busy with other things. Full compartment, full compartment, aha! She came across a compartment that had one lone person in it. However, she hesitated. She had made herself a little too known last year, having about torn up the school chasing after the Weasley twins to keep them out of trouble. She was half afraid anyone she came across now would see her as the always agitated mom person. She closed her eyes and sighed. No, have confidence Rose! You can do this! Get to know people! You can be a normal teenager! At least until Fred and George decided to tear your attention away from everything else.
She knocked on the compartment door, smiling. "Mind if I join you? Everywhere else is full."
Willow looked up to see an attractive female asking if she could join him. His pulse rate increased slightly. He tried to calm himself. Relax, he thought, she's just a pretty older girl. Nothing to be awkward about.
"Yes. Please come in. I don't mind." He said. It sounded a bit off to his ears. He had already put his nose back in his book. It was much easier to stay calm that way. Hopefully, he could maintain his composure till they arrived at Hogwarts. After that, she would surely join some other friends and he could be back to his normal self.

Feeling someone pass behind her before stepping into the compartment, she noticed Fred and George heading down the walkway and immediately rolls her eyes. Ignoring them, she turns back to the boy in the compartment and takes a seat on the bench opposite him. "I'm actually just gonna be here for a short bit. I'm looking for someone, but the train is too busy and crowded for me to move about in, so I figured I'd duck in with someone for a moment."
She eyed him a moment, blue eyes gleaming slightly. The twins always told her when she did that it looked like she was sizing people up to eat them. It didn't matter how wrong they were, it was just how close to a werewolfish thing to do that was that bothered her, but for some reason, it was something that she did naturally. She cut the gaze off short, hoping he didn't catch it. "How are you liking Slytherin? You seem.... to not be much like the type to be in that house. I hope King of the Pure Bloods Draco Malfoy doesn't give you too much of a problem. You look like you'd give him a run for his money."
She smiled again, resting an elbow on her leg and her cheek in her palm.
"Oh. I see." He said. Feigning disinterest. Really he just didn't know whether to be relieved or disappointed.
Then he felt a piercing gaze on him. He felt the hairs on the back of his neck rise. There was something dangerous and exciting in her look. It lasted only a few moments, enough for him to know for sure that it had been there. But not enough time to tell what it meant.
Then she was badmouthing Slytherin. Not that he could truthfully blame her. So many of his housemates were utter disgraces. Still, it hurt a bit. To have the shame that should be pride pointed out to you. He couldn't take living like that. That's why he needed to make it better.
"It's working out fine. Better off then you'd think. Worse then you'd hope. As for Malfoy...I try to avoid Malfoy. Arguing with him would be a waste of my time. People with attitudes like him have no place in the Slytherin I'm trying to build." He said. Perhaps he spoke too much. This girl was taking him off guard. He should be polite and give away nothing. That was the Fey method.
At least he wasn't focusing on how pretty her smile was. Damn it.

An eyebrow rose and she sat back on her bench as if she were going to stay longer than an moment. Taking a quick look outside, she may have to, as the train still hadn't settled out in the corridor. She sighed softly, she just wanted to be able to quickly move through the train. It wouldn't be hard to spot him once she did start looking. She had a feeling he was near the end of the train anyway. "Look, I apologize," she said, frowning at his defensive response. "What I meant is that, given the current type of person in Slytherin right now-" she cut herself off. Nah, he probably knew this. She tried again. "It's nice to see someone with proper house pride for that house. It's the people that make the house undesirable, not the house itself. Even the sorting hat said I would do well there, but it wouldn't be safe for me."
Well, that was too much information on her part. No wonder everyone figured out what she was in a matter of weeks. Good going, Hunter! She closed her eyes a moment, chasing away the thought. "Let me start over. My Name is Rose; Rose Hunter. Ravenclaw. I'm a third year."
Now it was Willow's turn to sigh. He hadn't meant to put her on edge. This was all going a bit wrong. Hopefully, he could salvage this. For what purpose exactly? To be her friend? Maybe it was best not to dwell too much on this.
"The people are the house. That's why it's in the shape it's in. But it could be better. It will be better. I'm sorry if I sounded too defensive. I'm sorry for whatever reason would make Slytherin unsafe for you. I'm just... trying my best." He said.
He blinked when she offered him a hand. A...handshake. He hadn't been offered many of those here. He shrugged and shook her hand.
"I'm Willow Fey. A third year myself. Nice to meet you." He said, he just hoped his palms weren't sweaty.

She chewed on her bottom lip. "Well, to be honest, it's probably just mostly Malfoy. His parents have waaaaaaaaaaaay too much influence over that house. It's their word or there's problems."
She gave a grin. "But I can handle Malfoy, he's just all talk and no bite anyways. Always has a reason to pick on people, even if I'm older than him. The git."
She laughed and man did it feel good to do so. She even felt as though she was smiling a bit easier now. She had been a storm of emotions all morning, none of them good and now; well, she was content for the moment. She gave his had a warm squeeze, flashing another smile at him before sitting before letting go and sit back again. "Nice to meet you Willow. Heh, we both have plant names. And I'm sure, just as your name suggests, you'll stand firm and you'll change Slytherin for the better. But if anyone gives you trouble, let me know. I happen to be friends with the schools resident pranksters."
"Ha. Maybe your right." He said. It wasn't like she was wrong. The Malfoys had a lot of sway. But the fact they had that power was due to cowardice and moral laxness. He needed to help combat that.
"That's true. He's a git, and he's all talk. I'd like to take him down a peg in a duel. See how cocky he would be then." He said. To be honest he imagined laying the arrogant blonde out with spells more times then he cared to admit. Beating him and making him humble wasn't an obsession or anything. Honest.
Then she had to laugh and squeeze his hand. Willow felt like he was about to melt. This wasn't the first girl he was attracted to. Or his first crush. But it was pretty intense, and he was actually in close proximity to her and ohmygod.
Ahem. Composure Willow. She's just a girl. A stranger really. She shouldn't be having this much of an effect on you.
"Indeed. And I'm sure you'll prick anyone who tries to mess with you. As your name suggests. And I'll take your offer into consideration." He said, and tried not to let his heart beat out of his chest when she gave him that gorgoues smile of hers. It's like she didn't know what she was doing to him.

She giggled at him and the thought of Draco being put on his ass. Again. "Oh my Rowling, do it. Please. We all need to take him down a couple of pegs."
She was really starting to like this kid. He was cute... Looking and personality. She sighed, at least it took her mind off of bold Mr Fred Weasley for a while. It was a good distraction because, on top of that, there was also her brother who just decided to appear from where ever he was and teach, and well. Anyways. She snickered.
"I am very good with pricking with my thorns," she then very dramatically flicked her hair back and batted her eyelashes. "But I'm also aware of the effect my looks have on people sometimes. I blame it on the fact that I spent the first three years of my schooling in France. For some reason, there was a lot of Veela at Beauxbatons. They were very strict with personal appearance. I'm working really hard to relax though. It's nice not to have to be up at four in the morning to do one's hair."
It was true, the only reason she had been up at four in the morning today was that of her emotions and the fact that she had to make lunches. Oh! This thought prompted her to suddenly turn to her bag and sift through it a moment, procuring a nearly wrapped lunch box. "Well, since we're friends and all now. I bestow upon you the greatest gifts of gifts! My speciality made Train Lunch. I don't know if you're were just gonna get something from the trolly, but it's a long ride and Dumbledore takes forever with the speeches, so best to eat something now too."
He was shaking. Literally shaking. This woman was incredible. Well traveled. Beautiful. Stayed with a bunch of Veela at Beauxbatons. Beautiful. Charming. Did he mention beautiful? She was flirting with him. Actually flirting. He felt a bit overwhelmed.
Then she offered him lunch.
Was this what love felt like?
"I...thank you but-I....thanks." He said and took the meal. He picked at the wrapping and eventually opened it up. He dug in. It was...delicious.
"Th-thanks. This is really good." He said and resumed eating.

Oh my Rowling, look at him fluster. Oh, she couldn't help it now. He was just too adorable. She debated on laying it on even more as she watched him eat the lunch box ceremoniously gifted to him. It might be a taaaaad overboard, but he was just too cute. Suddenly she had moved to sit next to him, her shoulder just barely pressing against his. She pointed at a random food item in the box and quite softly said, "while the whole box is my speciality, this is the one I think is everyone's favourite. Do you agree?"
Again, the smile, this time, a little eye flutter.
Willow was red. He felt like he was burning up. Like his whole world was on fire. He didn't know what to do or how to act or what to say. She was so confident. So in control. He'd probably do anything she asked of him.
"Th-that one i-is. R-really quite go-good." He said, his voice sounding strange even to himself. He picked at his food to distract himself, mostly. He felt a bit possesed. A bit out of control. But in a good way. This woman was torturing him, but he liked it.
"D-do you th-think. I-I mean w-would it be f-fine if-would you..." He blabbered unable to get the words out. He shook his head and focused. All he needed was to get through one sentence.
"Do you think we could...havelunchtogetheraginsometime." He said. He almost nailed it but he spoke too fast at the end. God, why was his mouth so dry? This felt like a sickness whatever it was. A pleasant one but a sickness nevertheless.

Was she smiling like an idiot? She probably was. He was so cute. Too cute. His face was red. The whole damn nine yards. She silently thanked her veela friends from Beauxbatons. This was fun. She gave him another smile her arm snaking around his shoulders and pulling him against her side. The insane problem was now, is that she did like him. So she knew the protective instinct would come out if anything happened. So, that would be a fun thing to deal with later. She was right next to his ear now, her smile impossible as she took a bit of the item she pointed and popped it into her mouth as well. "Excellent, it's my favourite too, after all."
She held back her giggling as he stumbled over his words, finally getting them to spill out. Well, she wouldn't lie to say she wasn't thrilled. It would cause quite the uprising. Draco would surely have a fit. Fred would definaltey have a fit. She cackled in her head.
"Have lunch with you? Again? Like;" another coy smile. "With the rest of the school? Or..." she got real close. "Alone, like right now?"
Oh god. She had her arm around him. She had her arm around him! She was so close. He felt like he could barely breathe. Then she asked if they would have lunch alone and he nearly had a heartattack.
"I...I would gladly e-eat with y-you and th-the school.B-but ma-maybe we could uh...have l-lunch alone a-as w-well." He managed to get out. "I-if that's o-ok. Whe-whenever you want."
Was this all a bad idea? Willow didn't know and frankly didn't care. He just wanted to spend more time with her.
