That evening, though it was very difficult to concentrate through the rest of her classes after the incident with Diggory; she rushed to her brother's office. Eyes wide. She gave the door a rapid knock before just letting herself in a few moments later. She ploughed into the room, nearly tripping on something near the door.
"Remus," her voice was slightly panicked. She had calmed down slightly since then, but the whole thing was just boggling her.
"I think... I think I'm more than just a werewolf, Moony!"
She was speaking in hushed whispers, eyeballing the door. "Like, something... nearly as dangerous. Nah, probably more!"
She explained the whole Diggory incident, where she just had to come in two feet of him and it seemed like the effect was instant and how he seemed instantly attracted to her, even though she wasn't even really doing anything.
Remus was working on grading some essays today after class, reading through some essays that really needed work, and one he could hardly even read. Nevertheless, he persisted. He concentrated very hard on one word in this essay and from the context he finally convinced himself it was ‘defense’. He sighed leaning back in his chair for a second before he continued onto the next sentence writing a transcript out with a quill as he read so it would be easier to piece together in the end.
However just as he was getting to the second sentence in this essay, suddenly there was a knock at his door and he looked up with a worried look, just barely able to set the essay aside before Rose burst through into his office. Remus looked at her with a look that was like ‘Where is Sirius Black’ because the way she was acting was similar to that of someone who had just seen a mass murderer and was almost murdered by that mass murderer.
When she spoke, he sighed and almost laughed as she said she thought she was something more than a werewolf. Had she not known? Did Amelie not say? He really would need to scold Amelie for that if he ever worked up the courage to talk to her. He held up a hand and stood up, looking to her with a calm smile, attempting to comfort her.
“You’re Rose Hunter, that’s what you are.” He walked around his desk and leaned against the edge. “You should ask your mother about… what else you might be mixed with. Perhaps part of the reason you were in France.” After all, Veela had similar powers.

"Just Rose Hunter; oh now you've got all the wishy-washy words?! Sometimes you're such a hypocrite, Remus, it drives me nuts."
She mused over what he said though, her eyes narrowing at him. "Wait - does that mean you do know what this is?? Why hasn't anyone told me! Do you know how many people I cross paths within a day? A week? How many of these friendships I made could be false just because I sweet talked them into it!?"
She wasn't livid, but she was rather annoyed that such a thing could be kept from her. To be honest, maybe that - the reason why they were in France was not only because of the watches but because Veela's were a perfect coverup. She always just thought she had just been around them for so long, that it just kinda rubbed off on her, but now..?
"No, I'm not waiting for mom. I'd have to write, and then wait more. You're here, you tell me. Besides, you're the expert here, Mr Defense Against the Dark Arts Professor!"
She crossed her arms and looked at him expectantly.
He was trying to be delicate as something like this could shock anyone. The fact her mother hadn’t said anything peeved him a bit and if he ever contacted her he planned to chide Amelie for keeping such a thing from her daughter who would obviously need to learn about it eventually and now he was going to have to play parent and talk to her about this.
He felt like a father giving a child the birds and the bees talk.
“Well, as you know, I was seventeen when Amelie and Father married and had you, so I knew her a little bit before they were married and well…” He looked off to the side. “It took a bit and the fact she was marrying my father tended to help with the effects. You have no idea how awkward it is to find your stepmother attractive.” His face looked serious though slightly embarrassed, but not pink in the face. “Anyways… she informed me prior to their marriage what was happening, so I didn’t feel too bad about it and so we could work together to counter the effect on me. Father’s naturally immune, but he still fell in love with her, which shows a lot.”
Well, now you’re rambling, Remus. Get to the point. He pinched his nose and then rolled his arms. “You know about Veela, and while not quite exactly the same, the effects are very similar. Unlike Veela, there aren’t any pureblood… well what you are anymore. Succubus is the term people tend to use, and well, your mother’s side has some of that blood in it.”

"I'm a what?"
She wondered briefly if this is how one feels when getting told they're a wizard; like some muggle-born kid and that letter just shows up from Hagrid. It was certainly life-changing enough, at least. She took a breath and before her brother could answer her, she pulled the textbook from her bag, gave her wand a shake at it and let it fall open to the page. Before her, was an image, that was probably more fiction than fact; but, she couldn't help but frown. I guess, in a way, this was sort of how Remus felt about his lycanthropy. But it wasn't something he was born with.
"I-" she cleared her throat, trying to be mature about this "I assume the effect is muted for me, for you, because I'm related by blood. But."
She squeezed her eye shut and sighed, flopping into the chair before his desk. "Sorry to pin this on your Remus, I really am."
She had about a billion emotions going through her, but she pinpointed, grabbed onto and dealt with the most important one right now. "The whole, idea; it's terrifying."
She gave a dry laugh, "I guess I have a taste of what you feel about... well, the other curse from your perspective."
She looked down to her lap, however, eyes burning with tears she was attempting to keep at bay.
“Oh, yes very much so. I don’t feel the effect at all with you,” Remus quickly dismissed the fact, “Not just because we’re related, also because your mother helped me learn how to resist the effects as well.” He looked at her with a worried look.
Quickly standing up, he walked to her and hugged her tightly, pulling her close. He had seen that she was about to cry.
He had half a mind to send a howler to her mother for keeping this a secret from her for so long. At least tell her, so she could watch out – maybe even train the ability! He could hear him getting angry at her again, though not quite the yelling he had done the last time he had seen her.
“It’s going to be okay, Rose. We’ll figure out how to work with this together. Maybe we can find a way to help you control… this ‘charm’ of yours.

As soon as she felt his body heat her shoulders trembled with her sobs. She wanted to be mature about this, but it was the first time in her life that she was scared about herself.
Is this why she had gone to France, to hide in plain sight? To blame it on veela influence. How could they come to Hogwarts and not tell her? She assumed that as she grew older and matured that the effect would only get worse and she would have to learn to train it. Why just send her here blindly?
...well, the good thing about all this is she had a perspective about how Remus feels about her being all careless about her lycanthropy.
Cried out, she sighed but didn't pull away. She relished in the freely given affection, instead of the false created stuff she'd been surrounding herself in.
"I just... I don't understand why Mom or Dad didn't tell me."
It was very sad as Remus had assumed for the longest time that she knew and so he didn’t think anything of it. There was a reason he was always worried about her, though that was mostly because she was his sister, but also because he was afraid of her doing something on accident that would end up hurting her in the end. When it came to relationships, more than just physical attraction was necessary, the connection needed to be real, firm, complete.
“I don’t know why either. I’m considering sending a howler to the pair of them and give them a piece of my mind.” His voice was low with a quiet anger behind it. That was honestly how he was most of the time when he was angry, quiet anger with a dash of guilt. He wasn’t one for yelling, or insulting for the sake of insulting while he was angry.
“It’ll be alright, Rose. You know if anything happens, I can be there for you.”

"Don't bother, I'll do it myself."
The tone was slightly amused, in a sad sort of way. But she really was. Not really a Howler though, just a strongly worded letter.
She couldn't... she couldn't be so angry with her parents that'd she'd disrespect them, but this was just... it was upsetting. she wrapped her arms around his waist, seeking his comfort and warmth, taking joy that she could trust his was real. She would have to face Willow and really figure out what was going on there.
"I... I understand why you were trying to warn me about Willow earlier now."
He bit his lower lip, continuing to hold her close to him. Honestly, he missed this a lot, and he was wondering why in the world he had left in the fir – oh right. That. Even still, he was happy to have her with him, even though this hug was constituting yet another thing he had against Amelie and his father.
“Well, it wasn’t just this. I was also being an overprotective prick.” Oh god, he used a moderately bad curse word. He must be Sirius. Wait, not Sirius, serious. The opposite of Sirius because he was almost never serious it seemed at least while they were at school. Didn’t even take his lycanthropy seriously and nearly got Severus killed…
“Like I said, we’ll work on this together. I can’t necessarily help you control it, but I can share my experiences on how to resist it, and perhaps it can help with control.”

She snickered, which sounded more like a pup snuffling, from the position she was in, but nonetheless.
"Moony... I wouldn't go that far..." she paused a moment and sighed. "Okay, maybe that far; but point is, I see why you did it, regardless. And I didn't appreciate it, you were just being you, and you'd hate to see me hurt. I mean, look at me now and this upset was my own parents."
She chuckled darkly, "at least I don't have that other side effect where when I get angry I turn into some harpie like creature. I've seen some of the higher-part veela at Beauxbatons do that and even it scared the crap out of me! And I'm glad it doesn't work on you. That you love me, for me, and not some damn charm I can't control."
Finally feeling better - through a passage from her book stood out to her for a moment, where it seemed that the fed off affection and love but she roughly reminded herself that he was unaffected by her, so, therefore, she was not stealing anything from her own brother - she released him to look him in the face, tired eyes and scars faced her back and she sighed, trailing a finger over a recent looking one on his cheek.
"How does one normally resist this? What were you taught to resist mother?"
Remus smiled at her and closed his eyes, sighing lightly as he remembered Amelie’s words, not really wanting to think about her, but basically being forced to think of his time with her. After all, it was to help Rose and… he’d think about the unpleasant memories for her. Well, they were pleasant, just not now with knowing what happened after all of that.
“Well, I focus on a goal when I go to talk to her, keep my mind on anything except romance – it wasn’t hard for me given I’ve never really given romance or… physical affection much thought as it was, but that was one of the biggest things that helped. Any time my mind would wander to something, I’d think of something else – I usually thought about chocolate and how tasty it was. Then if I ever felt something towards her, I wouldn’t let myself think of it until she was gone, and logically deduce from that whether those feelings were real or from the charm.”

Part of her was sad that her charm didn't work on him. It might be much easier to get him to take the watch if it did. Hmm... Maybe she would enlist Dora to help in that department.
"I can see why that's weird. It's strange that it's just a thing that happens naturally."
She heaved a sigh. She was coming to terms with it now, there was nothing else to do, right?
Remus chuckled back and shook his head. “Well yes, it would be a little bit awkward if I couldn’t resist your charm.” He tapped her nose and laughed pulling out a chocolate bar and offering her a bite.
“It’ll make you feel better.” He winks at her and pulls out a chocolate bar for himself. He had taken it from the kitchens earlier, so he didn’t have to worry about spending money for this right here. He still felt bad he was passing off stolen chocolate to her, but oh well.
“Either way, its mostly focusing your mind on something that isn’t romance or sexual feelings. Focus on the other feelings you feel towards someone and then the resistance comes naturally to you.”

"Are you sure you haven't? Maybe the charm just works differently for you."
She turned a puppy dog look on him and batted her eyes for added effect. She did wonder if she could manipulate her charm for certain people. She quirked an eyebrow, probably not he was much more well.practiced in this. She giggled nonethess.
