Her wand is one that seeks a greater purpose than the ordinary, that needs an owner who will astound those around her with her strong personality. Hermione's wand in particular is incredibly versatile, allowing her to continually expand the power of her spells in many different areas.

The Sorting Hat placed Hermione in Gryffindor because of her loyalty and bravery. Though the Sorting Hat did consider placing her in Ravenclaw because of her intelligence. Deep down, Hermione did choose to be in Gryffindor instead of Ravenclaw however.

Mr. and Mrs. Granger welcomed their precious baby girl into the world on September 19th. With both of them being dentists, they gave her as much of the world as they could, not knowing just how big the world really was. Even from a young age, Hermione showed signs of being very different from other children but her parents loved her regardless.
When Hermione turned 11, her family received a letter from an owl (of all things!) that explained that Hermione was actually a witch and that she'd been accepted into Hogwarts: School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. To make sure that her parents knew how to get Hermione the things she needed for school, there was a separate letter for them explaining everything. After a crazy first experience in Diagon Alley, Hermione realized that this was the first time that she could really be herself.
Her first time on the Hogwarts Express was an adventure! Hermione shared a cabin with Neville Longbottom where she ended up going from area to area in search of his pet toad. In the process, she met Ronald Weasley and Harry Potter. Upon arriving at Hogwarts, she met Hagrid and along with all the other first years, was escorted to the castle. The Sorting Hat placed her in Gryffindor. The next few weeks were a blur as she proved herself a complete know-it-all as she tried to fit in by not appearing as a Muggle.
Hermione's friendship with Harry and Ron did not start out very well. But it solidified when a troll trapped her in the girls bathroom on Halloween night. Harry and Ron worked together to save her so she took the rap in order to keep them from getting into trouble. After that, the trio became like three peas in a pod. The rest of the year included the trio getting into trouble (with various amounts of success) which included catching Professor Snapes robes on fire and going through deadly traps to protect the Philosopher's Stone from Voldemort.
Hermione's second year at Hogwarts was spent pretty much the same. Getting good grades as well as spending months working on making a Polyjuice Potion only to be petrified by a Basilisk in order to help Harry and Ron find the Chamber of Secrets. Once again, the trio took down Voldemort.
This is Hermione's third year at Hogwarts and she is beginning to suspect that this year will be much the same. Though with Sirius Black on the loose, there is no telling how this year will turn out. She knows that with Ron and Harry by her side though, they can make it through anything together.
