Today was the day all the student would be going home. Of course, a few were making their final stops before the train would depart later this afternoon to the nearby village, Hogsmeade. Remus himself was going to be staying at Hogwarts during the holidays, as well, he didn’t really have family he wanted to go back to for them. Plus, he had things to deal with. After missing a full week because of the moon, he had been quite behind on homework for a while – though he did get that finished before the term ended yesterday.
With his wages from teaching, Remus had decided he would get some Christmas presents for a few people, namely Rose, Dora, Elias, Sirius, and something for Harry. Not that he would send it with his name on it to Harry – that would make people wonder why he was buying something for a student and not the others – he was just going to send it anonymously. With Rose and Elias, well it wasn’t all that secret she was his family and if asked he figured it wouldn’t be a huge deal if it came out – big step for Remus, right? And Elias, well he was good friends with her, and knew about Sirius so he would likely be joining them at Tonks’s place for Christmas after spending time with his family.
However, there lay the problem: what was he going to get for them for Christmas? It wouldn’t be something too expensive, of course, as he didn’t have a lot of money and hoped to save some of his wages for the future when he wouldn’t have a job, but he wanted something nice.
Remus peeked in a few windows, bought a couple of items and ended up in Honeydukes, looking at the chocolates. Of course, he was looking at the chocolates. They were obviously the best thing to have – plus he knew Rose loved chocolate. He had gotten a little something for Tonks, but he wanted to get a little bit extra for her. And he had no idea what to get for Harry or Elias. Which was unfortunate. He would just have to figure it out before next week when Christmas rolled around.
After buying a bit of chocolate for Rose, he made his way out of the shop and down the streets, looking in windows and wondering about some of the things he saw. Boy, he was in trouble if he couldn’t figure something out…
Nix spun her arms and maya was tucked up under them in moment, with a whop of laughter the pair ran down the rickey steps as a loud splash and a yelp could be heard from the bathroom. "Girls!" came the shout and nix jumped from the bottom step, maya sitting on her shoulder blades and holding on to her around her neck, both giggling hard. "You asked for clean" maya called, saving nix the effort as she moved across the living room and headed for the door that shut off the shop from the house. Nix paused beside it, letting maya wriggle down and pulled the door open as nix glanced back. Kyle wrapped in a towel was tugging on dressing gown, glaring while trying not to laugh at the pair of girls half way across the house from him.
The door opened, Kyle shrank back, and the girls moved through the doorway trying not to laugh. The shop was full, even for christmas is was very full, and the shelves were less so. People had been buying their stock as fast as they could order it in, or in tains case, as fast as he could make a broom. The whole family could help in the little bits of it but a lot of it he had to do himself, though thankfully he was finally on to the commissions for the kids at hogwarts to get for christmas so it was working well. Maya tugged on nix's hand and then pointed over to a customer on the left, leaning over to pull on her matchsticks apron and dashing over with wide eyes and a kindly smile. Nix laughed, knowing it was her day off today and she was going to enjoy it, so she waved to the little girl and started for the door way.
Nix always said she would stay at hogwarts, even since her first year doing so. However every single year since one of the Forest's had invited her to stay with them and while you could so no to one of them, when the family put their minds to it they could make anyone agree. So she was staying in their home again this christmas, she was pretty sure from the way tain had been talking over dinner he had been hinting that come next year she had a home with the family too if she wanted it. It felt odd and good at the same time she thought as she stepped up the snowy street, pulling her robes around her tightly. She'd found a family but accident, and seemed almost been adopted in to it like the others. However she also needed her time away from them, that and kevin would be mad about his newly yellow hair for a few hours now until it faded and most likely be prepping to get her back. So she would wander hogsmead, maybe look for gifts for the others even though no one was allowed to give any on account of the families traditions. "Ahh, but im not family" she chuckled out loud, the excuse she used every year to get them all a little something.
Remus had been peering into a window where he had seen a small wolf plush, considering a couple ideas for it – he could get it for Dora, maybe charm it so it would count down the days to the full moon. That way she would know, as she wasn’t used to having to keep track of when the moon would peak, but it was important to him. And the better she knew, the better she could stay away from him during that time. Not only was he dangerous, even with the wolfsbane (much less dangerous though), he was also extremely moody. Then again, with the auror that was looking after her… well, she was probably used to moody. Either way...
He heard a familiar voice nearby and he smiled, looking to the young girl. “Nix Night, shopping for the holidays?” Remus greeted her with a smile, his voice smooth and fairly confident. He had heard about her father – what he was – and she was the representation of his possible future when it came to family. Then again, even if she wasn’t, there was a chance that… he could still pass on what he was, and that wasn’t a risk he was going to take. While no one seemed to think she was… well you know, she could easily be hiding it. Not easily. But she could have been hiding it regardless.
