Rose was smiling, so much so, it was actually starting to hurt a little, but stopping wasn't going to happen any time soon. She rolled her eyes at Remus, shaking her head, "oh, sure, colleague. Whatever."
She giggled as Elias stood to model his jumper, grinning proudly. "Of course it's a perfect fit, I've had hands-on experience with its wearer." Well, that insinuated to much probably, but the words were already out of her mouth. She couldn't help it, her charm didn't affect him, so she always felt the need to be overly flirtatious. She was probably going to hear about this later.
"See, isn't it nice? I actually have more for you, Remus," she said his name with a smile. "As you know, this is our first Christmas in years, but it doesn't mean I didn't think about you every year." She returned his hug tightly. "I have birthday presents as well."
She gave him a wink, her first gift - well. Was it odd, that she had dreamed of having one of his sweaters? Was it the emotional connection? She wasn't sure, but, man, she was a wreck. She brought it up to her nose to and inhaled, eyes closing and tears streaked down her face. She buried her face into the sweater, out of commission, for the moment, she was.
Sirius, wearing his sweater now, eyeing Rose warily as she broke down into the jumper, he accepted the gifts from Remus, feeling slightly guilty. He hadn't been able to get out to get anything - he hadn't even thought about it. He would have to think of something. Owl post, possibly. "Weasley Wizard Wheezes, eh? At least they're making money off of it, and not just causing trouble. Thank you, Moony."
Tonks had smiled at the book, it was a reference to the offhand comment she had made during that snow fight. Fair play indeed. She was in love with the wolf plush, it was a way for her to learn to track the cycles. She was rather floored, she felt like she had been accepted into their little-knit family. It was an amazing feeling.
She opened the note carefully and the ring fell into her hand. Her brain skidded to a halt. Wait; what? Haven't even read the note yet her eyes flipped up to Remus and then back down where she forced herself to read.
Her mouth fell open. Time seemed to have frozen.
Rose had recovered, now wearing the jumper she stood and walked over to Tonks, eyebrow raised. "What? What is it?"
She plucked the note from Tonks hand, who immediately used that hand - which was shaking, by the way - to cover her mouth, eyes wide.
"Oh you sly dog," muttered Rose, a grin on her face. "Well, Remus, bring her back in. Why don't you ask her proper, now that we're all here?"
Remus’s eyes widened looking right at Rose when she said she had ‘hands-on experience’ with Elias. His overprotective brother instincts kicked into overdrive, and just from looking at him, one could tell he was just boiling right below the surface. He made a mental note to chide her later for it and get to the bottom of just how serious this relationship was between them.
“Really, just being here is enough. You didn’t need to worry about that…” Remus looked down shyly, the boiling anger from before quickly subsiding. He knew he said he would try to accept help from others, but he also felt incredibly guilty, not only for missing so many Christmases, but for making her feel like she had to go through that trouble to get him presents.
“From what I know, they want to open a joke shop when they’ve graduated,” Remus smiles looking to Sirius, “They’re still a long way away from it, and those are just prototypes – they haven’t done extensive testing on them yet, but… I think they’ve got an amazing future ahead of them. They’re very powerful, and they always know how to make people smile. Unless they’re the ones upsetting people in the first place.”
Then came the note and he was shaking, knowing what he had written and what was inside. He hadn’t taken it away, as he was still very much in love with her and wanted to marry her. It was just a little bit fast – but that was okay.
He looked at Rose and then at Tonks and swallowed. He plucked the ring from her hand and held it up, getting onto one knee. He didn’t plan to do this in front of anyone – he hoped he would do it with just them together, but this was going to be alright.
“I know it’s soon. We’ve known each other for four months and our relationship hasn’t been the smoothest. There’s a lot we still need to talk about when it regards the future of us, but I know you’re strong and you’ll help us stay afloat, even if I’m an idiot. I won’t guarantee that I won’t be an idiot but… I will guarantee I will always love you and – and that I will do everything I can to keep us together as well. You’re still young, I understand if you say no, but…” He takes in a deep breath, his hand holding the ring shaking. “Even if you do, it’s a standing offer from now until the end of time. Nymphadora Tonks, my Dora, my everything… Will you marry me?”

"None of the guilt, Remus!" she chided. "You're family, my brother, always have been, always will be."
Oh, she knew that look he was giving her at this moment. She chuckled. If she had to be honest though, his over-protectiveness was one of the things that made her feel whole. At the mention of the twins owning a shop, she rolled her eyes. "Oh, sure, the twins are powerful indeed. Powerfully annoying."
Yeah, she was still annoyed they turned her hair green over the summer, what of it? She eyed Remus, a small smile on her lips. He needed this, something to ground him. An obligation, a promise. being his sister, there was nothing she could do if he decided to run again. Sure, she wouldn't be a pretty sight at all, but she was just his sister. This, this was different. This, she knew he needed. Another step on learning to trust again. Giving someone the opportunity to prove that they're worthy of that trust.
Rose gave a brilliant smile to the two, setting a hand to Remus upper arm and gave him an encouraging squeeze before stepping away, watching the scene before her with a quiet happy sigh.
Nymphadora Tonks, Hufflepuff Alumni, Auror in training, was honestly having the best day of her life. Somewhere in the interaction between Remus and Rose her brain had actually come back to her. She was watching the two of them, a smile on her face. She was absolutely floored these two would let her into their lives like this. It felt like a special secret club. Four months, sure, okay. It was maybe a little fast, but they had their entire lives to ... to do everything. she and Remus, both so, so young. Especially now. The years had seemed to have melted off of him, was it the nervous expression he wore? She wasn't sure. Maybe it was just how she saw him. Yes, that was it.
Why would she say no? She wasn't crazy.
She reached out to wrap her ahnd around his shaking one, a gorgeous smile on her lips. "Of course, Remus Lupin, of course, I'll marry you."
There was a loud whoop and the sound of sparks again.
There was the Lily! Calling a couple of pranksters annoying. That was something Lily did a lot, especially when they were younger. Of course, Remus was just chided for not standing up to them and somehow ended up her friend much to James’s chagrin, since he always tried to get her attention. First love, though he never acted on it.
Remus swallowed looking to Tonks, feeling Rose’s arm squeeze of reassurance, and then looking as Tonks took his hand, steadying it. He swallowed, so many thoughts and doubts running through his head. What if she said no? What if she thought he was an idiot? What if she had fallen in love with someone else? What if she wasn’t ready for something like this?
And then that split second of doubt clouding his mind was relieved the instant she spoke. His face lit up like a Christmas tree, and he looked almost as if he was about to cry. Slowly taking her hand and sliding the ring on her finger, he couldn’t find any words to express what he was feeling. He quickly pulled her into a kiss, though one hand was up shielding their faces from view of the others in the room. Remus. Seriously. You’re a private man but you just got engaged and you’re hiding your kiss from the others? Well, in any case, his other hand found her cheek and cupped it, deepening the kiss, allowing the passionate, needy feeling to take over for several moments before he pulled back, dropping his hand.

Tonks giggled into the kiss, as his hand shielded them from the others. Even that was quite endearing. However, she was swept away as the kiss deepened, sending shivers down her spine and then he was pulling away. The world came back into view and she blushed darkly and she held up her ring hand, admiring the ring in the light, still grinning.
"It's beautiful."
It was hope.
She was a storm of emotion, a storm of emotion that wanted everyone out of her house, but alas. Earwax. She had a Christmas gift for him, but now her idea of a gift was not public friendly. She linked her hand with Remus' holding it tightly.
"Soooo," said Rose, after she felt that inimate moment between the two of them was over. Honestly, she was ten seconds of dragging Elias out and leaving them be. Hell, she was even gonna take Sirius with her. She could get him into Ravenclaw tower easy. "That saaaaaaid," Rose gave a grin. "You must allow me to make you your wedding dress. I've gotta at least put the skills I learned from Madam Malkin to some use!"
Rose giggled and Tonks blushed again. "No rush, obviously. But, I claim it before someone else does."
She looked between the couple absolutely estatic, "mom's gonna freak out when she hears."
“Just like you,” Remus responded immediately without even thinking about it. He smiled, his face a deep red, looking at their linked hands, the tug at his heart feeling stronger than before as he saw her wearing his mother’s ring.
To be perfectly fair, Elias was being very respectful and staying out of it right now – if he weren’t, well he’d have placed a few jokes in there, and that would not make anyone happy. So, he was a good boy and just was watching while smiling.
“Oh. Mom already knows,” Remus said looking to Rose, “I – I mean she doesn’t know it happened today, but she knew about the note and what I wrote. So does Dad.” Remus gives her a small grin. “I – I have no idea when the wedding will be. Oh god there’s so much to plan. Who would we invite? Who would officiate the ceremony? Sirius will obviously be my best man… but… what about music and – and the reception afterwards and –“ Oh no, there he went, worrying a little too much. He stopped him and swallowed looking between the audience. “B-But we can plan that later…”

Tonks blushed again a giddy grin spread over her face.
If Rose had been a different person, she would've been making puking noises, but she was just so happy. "Oh, I'm glad they know."
Wait, had he? "You..." She honestly couldn't believe it. It had honestly only been four months, but all the tribulation just seemed so long ago, when it came to this moment. "You called mom ... mom."
It was more than she could hope for, really. She had just settled on she and Remus settling the air between them. But their parents as well? Well, she was sure the air wasn't completely clear, but... it was something. It was enough. No, more than enough. Werewolves didn't take anything for granted when it was given to them. This was no exception. Rose swept Tonks into a crushing hug, tears evident in her eyes. She was so grateful, she couldn't put it into words so she fueled it all into the hug.
Tonks had seen Rose in many states, and Tonks was well versed in abilities that were controlled by emotions, as given by the soft pink of her spiky hair right now; but the vibe she was giving off now was... unexplainable. Tonks hadn't really thought about if Rose's charm had been working on her, but now Tonks was sure that it was. But honestly in a different way than expected. Succubus magic was new and strange. How many people come across Succubi anyway? Rose was indeed special. The look in Rose's eyes startled Tonks, with how expressive it was. Knowing Remus gave her an idea of how Rose worked as well, as a lot of their mannerisms were the same. Most emotions went unsaid and only shown and that was the look in Rose's eyes right now. Rose then swept her up into the hug and she wrapped her free arm around Rose, stroking her back softly and resting her cheek against the side of her head.
Home. This felt like home. Tonks thought to herself as she looked at Remus with a smile, squeezing his hand again.
Well shit, Sirius chuckled from his spot from the couch. A plethora of things had happened over that small space of times, and he felt like he was intruding. Him? A best man? Sirius smiled softly. James' dream was partially coming true. All of them getting married. His heart warmed as Rose hugged his cousin. He was happy for them. Happy for Remus most of all. He had been through so much, and him? Sirius hadn't helped a goddamn thing. The fact that Sirius had suspected this man of being the spy? He had been a right fool. Damn that part of him who was just so used to be backstabbed and betrayed. If there was anyone who should feel guilty, it was him.
He watched as Rose pulled away from Tonks, rubbing her eyes free of the moisture before launching herself at Remus. Sirius would protect this with his life, this happiness for his last living friend. He would give and protect the same for Harry as well.
"Well, there goes my dream of marrying Rose; can't go doing that when she's my cousin. OW!"
Rose hadn't even pulled away from Remus as her wand flicked at him. Non-verbal magic as well! Remus wasn't kidding! Sharp tongue and wit. How like Lily she was indeed.
He gave Rose an innocent smile and a shrug. “Yeah, I guess I did.” That didn’t mean that he was okay with everything that happened – nor did it mean he would always refer to her that way. In a way it was his own little rebellion of saying she wasn’t his real mother. He loved his mother – Hope – so much. He had been a mommy’s boy all the way through, and he was heart broken when she died. However, he did like Amelie as well. For the first few years he called her mother, but after what happened with Rose he stopped.
He was touched by those two, and how close they were – Rose and Tonks. They really were like sisters even before this proposal. Who was he to stand in the way of destiny? Well, that and he didn’t want to stand in the way of it.
He looked to Sirius who cracked a joke, which both men, Elias and Remus had gotten ready to curse him but Rose had gotten to him first. Remus chuckled, and Elias pouted slightly wanting to be the hero, but at least Sirius got what was coming to him.
“If anyone ‘ere were to marry Rose, it would be me, silly.” Remus eyed Elias after he said this. Oh boy those two were really going to get a talking to after all of this. But for now, it was Christmas – it was a time of joy and he just got engaged. Oh no. What would her parents think? Yeah, Sirius said they were great, but he was a werewolf trying to marry their daughter. What would they do if her parents didn’t want it to happen? He wouldn’t want to be what came between them.
To be perfectly fair, though, while he loved Sirius, if this happened when James was still around, James would’ve been his best man, and the other two his groomsmen. But since James was gone… Sirius took the place and Peter was demoted to ‘instantly sent to Azkaban if he tried to show up’. All in all, Sirius got a good deal out of it.
“Not like being cousins stopped people in your family,” Remus joked. He laughed slightly and pulled Sirius into a hug. “I don’t know how long it’ll be, but I’m really glad I could have a friend there for me. I really mean it.”

Yes, she had been the one to hex Sirius this time, only because he didn't need to go flying across the house again. She hadn't pulled away from Remus as Elias spoke and a good thing too, because her face had turned the prettiest shade of red. It was one thing, her flirting, but that sort of bold declaration? Oh man... she knew she was in for it. Waaaay in for it. She finally pulled away from Remus, still slightly flushed in the face to go over to Elias. "You do realize he's going to kill us, right?" she whispered in his ear.
Rose sighed. Regardless of what sort of plan Elias had, the conversation was going to be fun.
"Thanks for the offer, Sirius," Rose said airly. "But I'm not into older men."
"Ouch," said Sirius, a faux pained expression on his face. "Not even a chance from the get-go it seems."
Sirius smiled, shaking his head. "Be that as it may... I'm not interested in that."
Sirius hugged Remus back, patting his back solidly. "You've got it Moony. It may be sooner than you think. Rose seems she can be persuasive." Sirius gave a teasing wink. "And to be honest, I don't blame her one bit. You've needed something like this for a long time, Remus. You deserve every bit of happiness you can get, Moony. I don't deserve the forgiveness you may give me, after all of this. I was a fool to have suspected you."
Elias chuckled when Rose whispered to him. He smiled at her and it was almost as if his teeth glinted with the arrogance and charm he was leaking out. “Yes he will, but he should have a good reason to kill us, yes?” It wasn’t like Elias was going around making out with her when he was around – he was being mostly discreet with a few jokes here and there. There was a lot he’d have done – like kissing her several times more – if Remus hadn’t been there.
---
Remus was eying Sirius seriously, raising an eyebrow. However, he knew he was joking and Rose seemed to take it in stride – and she had defended herself quite nicely. He chose to focus more on the fact Sirius was here and he had picked him to be his best man than worrying about Sirius being a jerk to his sister.
“Well, I still need to talk with Dora about things – kids, our future, our relationship, things like that. I’d… rather we be clear about everything before… it happens, you know what I mean?”
Post by Rose Ameile Hunter on Aug 11, 2018 2:03:35 GMT
"Sure, sure, talk away," Sirius said with a definitive smile, nodding. "I'm sure my dear cousin is going to be for anything you throw at her. It's obvious all she wants is you."
His eyes, however, did fall on Rose and Elias, who were talking in hushed whispers, her cheeks still red, he chuckled. "I can see why you're worried about her though. Who is the kid anyway?"
He had packed quite a punch, sending him across the room the last time he had seen him. Spells only packed punches like that when there was a particularly strong emotion behind them.
Rose sighed, shaking her head at his look of arrogance, a small smile on her face. She looked behind her, seeing Remus was caught up in a conversation with Sirius for a moment and swept in for a fast peck on the corner of Elias' mouth. She focused her gaze on the jumper he still wore, her smile faltering a little. "You really like it though? The jumper?" She raised a hand to brush against his shoulder. "I'm happy it fits so well. Those knitting spells are hard to manage."
“We’ll see about that…” Then he utters the words of another beast of a man – another life, another evil to be loved by such a beauty. “I’m a hard man to love.”
Remus glanced at Elias though he didn’t see the peck, then back at Sirius. He chuckled slightly. “Elias Lefeuvre, he was a friend of Rose’s at Beauxbatons. He’s uh… a good kid when they aren’t… joking about things.” His face grows serious and he glances at them again and then back at Sirius. “I don’t want them to grow up too fast. They should enjoy their time now and – well, there are some things that people still growing up shouldn’t worry about – or do.”
---
Elias smiled, accepting and returning the surprise peck for the moment that it lasted. He looked to Remus and then back to Rose, with a dopey smile. “Of course its good. Don’t fall into your Remusisms, now Rose.” He was teasing of course. “I’m very proud of you. You did fantastically. Brilliantly. Magnificently.”
---
Remus looked over at Tonks and gave her a smile, swallowing slightly. “So that… kind of took over things for a little bit… are there any more presents or – or other Christmas things to take care of?”
Post by Rose Ameile Hunter on Aug 11, 2018 3:29:05 GMT
Rose flushed again, "don't let him hear you call those that!"
She chuckled, smiling in thanks. "Now you'll have to wear it til spring."
She gave a wink.
Rose and Tonks shared a look the moment Remus asked that question and Rose gave a knowing smile, eyes sliding over to Sirius. There were no students or staff left by this time and the excitement had given her a lot of energy she needed to burn. She smiled kindly, "Sirius, Elias and I were thinking about taking a walk. Do you want to get out for a bit?"
Sirius rolled his eyes at Remus, about to reply, but was cut off by Rose. Catching eyes with her, who gave a swift look at Tonks and Remus before looking back at him, he nodded with a grin. "Sure, I wouldn't mind. Dog form and all."
There was a pop and Padfoot sat proudly in the living room.
Rose gave a nod and taking Elias' hand, led them out of the cottage, once out the door, she poked her head back in giving an obvious wink to Remus before shutting the door with an obvious locking spell.
Once the kids... and the dog, were out the door, Tonks gave a smile. Rose had a keen perception, for being nearly seventeen.
"Well," Tonks said, her voice swaying slightly in tone. "I could think of a fair few things."
Her lips tilted in a suggestive grin as she placed a soft kiss on his lips. She couldn't help but to feel giddy still, the moment was still playing inside her head. He had asked her to marry him! He wanted her! "But I will settle for giving you your gift, for now."
She moved over to the tree, knelt, retrieving a brown paper package, and stood again returning to Remus' side. "I... do hope you enjoy it."
She gave a wry grin, "I'm not efficient as Rose is, with domestic spells."
Inside the package, Remus would find a set of two modest, but beautifully bound leather journals, as such.
Elias caught the hint somewhat fast, though at first, he was a little bit confused. But then he looked at Tonks and then at Sirius when he replied, and he had a look of understanding glow on his face.
Remus, on the other hand, took a long time to understand what was going on. He was thinking it was dangerous for Sirius to go out, even in dog form. Plus, it was cold. However, when the three had left, given he didn’t put up any sort of protest, trusting that Rose understood what she was doing, and her head popped in? Yeah, his face immediately blushed to a bright pink when she winked at him.
He swallowed looking at Tonks, her words reaching his brain and just… making it go into overdrive again. Fair few things? Was she – was she suggesting…? The kiss was sweet, and he melted into it, wanting more, but the kiss ended as fast as it had come. He looked as she drifted away to grab a brown package. His eyes lit up, but there was a little bit of guilt plaguing his happy look.
“You shouldn’t have. Really…” He said that before he even opened the package, but when he did there was a flash of just… joy. He was impressed, and excited. He really liked them. He ran his hand over the journals and then his eyes flashed up to her. “They’re beautiful. Almost as beautiful as you.”
Post by Nymphadora Tonks on Aug 11, 2018 4:58:15 GMT
"None of the guilt, Remus!" she said, echoing Rose as she caught the guilt filtering into is gaze.
Joy reflected in her eyes as his filled with it and she smiled. "I'm glad you like them... I was thinking that... when a lot of things happen to me, or I'm thinking of a lot of things and it gets overwhelming, I just like to get it all out. And I wondered if that sort of thing would help you too."
She smiled, kissing him again and this one last longer. "I also know that this marriage proposal of yours was a huge step for you. There's a lot we need to talk about, but... this is enough for now. Just knowing you want me to be by your side is enough. We can deal with the other stuff later, but for now, let's just enjoy being in love."
She smiled softly at him, placing her hand atop his on the journal, his mother's ring sparkling in the light.
