The following is a list of allowable humanoid creatures. Some are listed in the ability register, but if your character is any of these they cannot have any abilities from that list bar apparition in some cases.

A Banshee is a sentient magical creature with the appearance of a woman with floor length black hair, a skeletal face, and green skin. They are most well-known for their scream which can be fatal to other creatures in a very similar way to the cry of a fully grown Mandrake.
They are incapable of using wizarding magic but they have a powerful resistance to it. That combined with their scream makes them a powerful opponent to any that might go hunting them. They tend to develop an affinity for a particular place or bloodline and can always be found in their chosen location or near their chosen family.
Banshees are fully sentient but solitary creatures. They have little interaction with the Ministry or other Wizards or Witches who are generally frightened of being killed. Their solitary nature does not necessarily mean that a Banshee is evil and individual examples of the creature run the gamut from territorial monster to fierce protector.
CentaursA Centaur is a magical creature with the upper body of a human and the lower body of a horse. Their coloring can cover the entire range that you might see on normal horses. Despite appearing to be a mix of two species, that is not the case and they are their own species with a long and proud history.
Centaurs have a rich history and a strong culture. They are well known for their abilities with Divination, for which they rely on the stars and positions of the planet, and are frighteningly accurate with their predictions, as well as for their talents at magical healing using techniques that are a well-guarded secret among their kind.
They do not possess the ability to use magic like a witch or wizard. However, their herds make their homes in forests all over the country and despite their size they are remarkably stealthy and proficient with more mundane weaponry.
GiantAs their name would suggest, Giants are vastly oversized humanoid creatures. Beyond that, their specific appearance can vary greatly from oversized human to giant, hairy, bestial creature. Giants tend to group themselves into Tribes and each tribe is led by the strongest specimen among it, which they call the Gurg.
Giants are incapable of using magic on their own but given their immense size and strength that has never been of a particular issue to them. They are not as intelligent as most other species, but they are smart enough to have their own culture and language and the ability to learn other languages and interact with other species. Unfortunately, Giants tend to have short attention spans and tempers which can make them difficult to deal with.
They are capable of crossbreeding with other species and Half-Giants are occasionally known to enter the wizarding world – even going so far as to attend Hogwarts.
GoblinGoblins are an extremely intelligent race of small humanoids that have coexisted with the Wizarding World for essentially as long as anyone can remember. They produce some of the best smiths of any species on the planet and are renowned for their silverwork. More importantly, they are famous for opening and operating Gringott’s Bank which has been handling the entirety of the Wizarding Economy since its inception.
While they do not perform magic in the same way as Wizards and Witches do, Goblins have their own form of magic that is no less effective and anyone who underestimates them does so at their own peril. Over the course of time, there have been several Goblin Rebellions that have begun due the Wizards and Witches in power underestimating them and treating them poorly. As many of their Rebellions succeeded as failed – though they have been fighting for new terms or better treatment rather than the overthrow of the Ministry.
They have an almost vicious hatred for theft, though they have a few strange ideas about ownership that makes this a difficult concept for people to cope with. According to Goblins, any item is ultimately owned by the creator of it, though it can be loaned or leased to another. They are also extreme about collecting and holding debts. In general, they are extremely honorable creatures, but as soon as they are crossed they no longer feel beholden to treat the perpetrator with any respect – which can cause severe problems as most witches and wizards do not bother trying to learn what Goblins feel is disrespectful.
VampireLike werewolves, Vampires are the recipient of an ancient curse and were once fully human. As such, their appearance is as varied as any other human being – though, they tend to be paler than most as they are incapable of venturing out into the sunlight. Also like other humans, their personalities tend to vary wildly although they do all tend to share a certain aloofness from the normal human population as they do not have to deal with, nor are they bothered by, the same things.
The Vampiric curse is ancient – it is unclear just how old it is or how long it has been around and it is largely unknown just how the curse is passed along other than the fact that it requires the drinking of blood. There has to be more to it than that, however, as all Vampires must consume living blood to survive but not everyone who is bitten is turned.
Vampires are unable to use magic, though their curse allows them to benefit from vastly increased strength, speed, senses, and the gift of immortality. Along with the benefits, however, there are several drawbacks to the curse. Chief among them is the fact that direct, natural sunlight will kill them outright. They can also be harmed and destroyed by intense fire or by drinking the blood of something already dead. As a part of their curse, Vampires cannot heal naturally and require significant effort and resources to heal damage. Bright light or loud, high pitched sounds can be used to hold them at bay or drive them off.
VeelaThe Veela are a race of semi-human, semi-magical female humanoids reminiscent of the Sirens of Greek mythology. Little is known about their biology; they appear to be young, beautiful humans. Along with their appearance, they have the ability to perform an extremely seductive dance which can bewitch those of weak mind that are inclined toward attraction to the female form. A Veela in their human form is capable of learning magic and wielding a wand, and almost frighteningly, when they are scared or angry they can take on the appearance of a bird-like creature akin to a Harpy at which point they can generate and cast fire from their hands. Even in human form, Veela tends to have a particular affinity to fire spells.
While being native to Europe – and most commonly found in Bulgaria – Veela has spread to other countries and their values and personalities are shaped more by the environment they grow up in than by any racial predilections.
Veela is only ever female creatures, and while they can breed with most other species it is only when breeding with muggles that full Veela are produced. It is believed that the magical abilities in the blood of magical creatures as well as Wizards prevent a full overwriting and results in the birth of half-Veela children. A Half-Veela loses the ability to transform into the bird-like form of a Full Veela or perform the seductive dance of the parent but maintains the affinity to fire and almost unnaturally good looks.
WerewolfFor all intents and purposes, werewolves are human. They can appear as any normal human would as they’re talents and ability derive from a curse that functions similarly to a disease spread by bite. As with their appearance, their personalities, values, and beliefs are similarly unconstrained by their condition.
During the full moon, the werewolf will shift forms into that of a large wolf – identifiable by several features such as the shape of its snout, a tufted tail, and the pupils of its eyes. Generally, they are also reasonably larger than a standard wolf. Unfortunately, during this period of time, they are legitimately monsters. They lose all semblance of humanity and are just as apt to kill a family member as a stranger.
In their human form, they are just like anyone else and – provided that they were a witch or wizard when they were turned – they are capable of casting magic and using a wand. In their wolf form, they are incapable of such. The curse is passed on through the bites and scratches of a shifted wolf – though these attacks are apt to leave lasting marks during other parts of the month.
The Wolfsbane Potion is the only way for a werewolf to maintain its humanity during the change and it can only be created by an accomplished Potions Master. The Potion not only allows the wolf to maintain its mind during the change but also reduces the agony of the transformation.
You cannot be a partial werewolf, you either are or you aren't. However if you detail that you were bitten by a werewolf but it was not during a full moon and your attacker was not fully transformed, you are NOT a werewolf, but you are allowed to have characteristics (ie, a craving for raw meat, or extreme moodiness during full moons).
