✔ pine ✔ 14" ✔ unicorn hair Rigid. Alexander Root has high aspirations and high creativity for his goals, which the pine would be able to adapt to fairly well. He's fairly shy and doesn't talk to many people causing people to think of him as a loner.
✘ hufflepuff
The hat took a long while for Alexander Root to be sorted. It considered him between hufflepuff and ravenclaw, as he possessed a great mind and a great heart as well. He was creative but also loyal - but in the end, the hat decided that he would need the support from Hufflpuff if he wanted to do well so he placed him in that house.
✘ patronus - pomeranian | Can't yet, but maybe one day he will be able to, so there's the animal. A small dog that barks and is annoying, but also empathetic. ✘ boggart - losing his mother or his sister, because that would leave him with his dad, and well he loves those two with all his heart. ✘ mirror of erised - to be considered the best wizard to ever live and to change the lives of everyone and have his mother and sister look at him with adoration and pride. His father is also there proud of him.

First of all, don't call him Alexander unless you want to make him mad. He insists on being called 'Root', his last name for reasons. When Alexander was born, his mother was only 18, and his parents had gotten married just eight months before, one could guess why they got married. As a young boy Alexander was bullied at school - he could do things others couldn't and the muggle school his mother sent him to had very cruel kids. When he was 5 years old, some 7 year olds nearly drowned him when he went to the bathroom during class. Luckily his teacher went to go find him because he was taking so long and stopped him from getting too hurt.
After that, his mother gave him the choice, but he decided to stay in the muggle school until he was older and would conceivably go to Hogwarts like his father. When he was 7 years old, his father tried to get him into sports, first putting him on the little league baseball team near their house. Well, the first game he was hit in the face with a baseball and knocked out. His father was able to get a healer to heal his tooth that had broken due to it, but never again did he try to get his son into sports.
His father in general was not a kind person, and constantly looked down on Alexander, and despite his little sister not having magic, Wentworth seemed to favor her for some reason. Even while he chose to go to the muggle school, he was hurt by bullies fairly often, sometimes even getting between bullies and some other kids to let them run - especially when one of those other kids was his sister who also seemed to get hurt by other students. Then when he came home with bruises, his father would punish him for getting into fights despite not being the one the school found in favor of. There were people who liked him given the things he would do, but he never really had any friends as he wasn't allowed to hang out with the others after school and during school he was focused on his studies.
Then he was accepted to Hogwarts, and Wendy was pronounced a squib at that time. He was sorted into Hufflepuff and went on to be one of the best in his class. Shy, Root never really branched out too much, but he was empathetic and could understand the feelings of others pretty well which made him able to gauge others. He misses his mom and his sister, but he is glad to be away from his father.
